Tom's work holiday party

Trier, Germany

We enjoyed a day in Trier for sight-seeing and a Christmas Market. Trier, the oldest city in Germany, was once a capital of the Roman Empire and has left a lot of Roman remnants. First we saw the Porta Nigra, the original gate to the city, which was used as part of one of the Christian churches after the Romans left. We walked around town and saw the Dom Cathedral and took several pictures of inside. Then we saw the Kaiser (emporer) Thermen building next to a beautiful palace. Next we saw the emporer's bathhouse, which has a lot of underground corridors. After that, we saw what was left of an old coliseum and looked around below it. Toward the end of the day, we walked around the Christmas market and drank some Gluehwein. Yummmy.
